Tonight, in our Club Meeting, we were very privileged to have 4 of our members demonstrating different aspects of woodturning and the associated skills thereof. John Boyne - Aitken demonstrated all aspects of sharpening various gouges and chisels
Pete Moncrief - Jury took use of the Skew Chisel to new levels
Peter Hatherell did his usual of finding another fantastically obscure demonstration to amaze the audience, utilising melting various plastics such as milk bottles, then turning them.
Joe Kerrawan demonstrated the use of home made jigs and gizmos for use in woodturning to great effect.

Cheque Presentation to

The Wiltshire Air Ambulance - Wed 26th July 2023

Kennet & Avon Woodturners are a club based in Trowbridge, they meet at St Johns Community Hall, Upper Studley on the second Thursday of each month. The membership strength currently stands at 57 drawn from across West Wiltshire, Bath, and East Somerset. The clubs chosen charity for Christmas 2022 was the Wiltshire Air Ambulance (WAA). Our members were asked to turn a piece to exhibit and enter the annual competition at the Gallery Night held on Thursday 8 December 2022. The pieces were subsequently donated by the members and sold in aid of the WAA charity. The total amount raised was £505.00. Hollie Newhook the Community Engagement & Volunteer Coordinator for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance based at Semington invited club members for a tour of their facilities and the opportunity was also taken to present the cheque. Club members including the committee and competition prize winners attended the event. George Williams (Pilot) with Emma Thompson and Jo Gilbert (Critical Care paramedics) showed the group around the Bell Helicopter and the Operations Room.
