Constitution and Rules

1. Aims 1.1 To foster friendship amongst woodturners, woodcarvers and any other woodcrafts in the area. 1.2 To impart knowledge and expand the craft of woodturning and woodcarving. 2. Constitution 2.1 The club shall be known as Kennet & Avon Woodturners. 2.2 The club shall be affiliated to the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain (AWGB), charity registration No. 1150255 and ALL club members are required to be individual members of that association. 2.3 Branch rules as laid down from time to time by the executive of the AWGB shall apply in full to this branch. 3. Membership 3.1 Membership shall be open to any member of the AWGB on payment of the subscription set by the committee and approved by the AGM. 3.2 The club year shall end 31st December. All members may attend all meetings and all activities. Extra payment may be required for some seminars and work. 3.3 Potential members may attend one monthly club meeting without charge. 3.4 All members may attend the AGM and be eligible to vote and offer themselves for election to any office. 4. Committee 4.1 A committee elected at the AGM shall manage the affairs of the club. 4.2 Committee officers shall comprise Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, and three committee members. 4.3 The committee shall meet as necessary and shall be empowered to appoint sub-committees and co- optive members, 4.4 Co-optive members only have voting rights if approved by the membership. Co-optive non members will have no voting rights. 4.5 The members shall elect the club chairman and the club officers from amongst its members at the AGM each year. 4.6 Committee quorum shall be three. 4.7 The club committee shall produce any other rules it feels necessary for the running of the club with the approval of the members. 4.8 The committee shall have the power to suspend any member or members who act in such a manner as to disrupt meetings, events or act in such a manner to bring the club into disrepute. 4.9 Each committee member shall be subject to re-election each year. 4.10 Out of pocket expenses incurred as a result of operating the club and as agreed by the committee will be reimbursed subject to the production of a receipt. 4.11 Cheques drawn on the club account shall require two signatures from either of the four club members nominated by the committee. 5. Annual General Meeting / Extraordinary General Meeting 5.1 The AGM shall be convened within seven weeks after the end of the club year and members will be reminded at the previous club meeting. 5.2 Motions for the AGM signed by a proposer and seconder being full club members are to be received in writing by the Secretary one week prior to the date of the meeting. 5.3 Nominations for officers or committee members duly proposed and seconded may be notified in writing to the Secretary prior to the meeting. 5.4 An EGM may be called by resolution of the committee or by written request of five members and shall be notified to all members of the branch at least three weeks prior to the date of the EGM. 5.5 Motions to change this clubs constitution may be submitted to an AGM or EGM if five members support the motion. All members will be notified in writing three weeks prior to the meeting. 5.6 Motions will be approved on a majority vote by eligible members present. 5.7 A quorum at an AGM or EGM shall be twenty percent of the branch membership. 5.8 The Treasurer will provide a set of accounts for inspection at the AGM covering all income, expenditure and club assets.
